Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach

Objectives of Kiwanis

To give primacy to the human and spiritual rather than to the material values of life.

The Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach is the oldest active service club in the Daytona Beach area, established in 1921. Please Join Us to Make a Difference and get INVOLVED!

To achieve this goal, the Kiwanis Club of Daytona Beach engages in the following:

We sponsor a Key Club at Mainland High School, Spruce Creek High School and Father Lopez High School.  Where we encourage and empower Key Clubbers, a student led organization , to lead and serve through the cultivation of leadership skills, development of friendships, and performance of service in their communities .  The students demonstrate a passion for helping  others and developing excellent leadership skills they can carry with them for a lifetime.

We sponsor a back to school clothing drive, where individuals from the club go into the community and interview underprivileged families with children in kindergarten through junior high and provide a complete set of back to school clothes for the children, so they can worry about their grades and not their clothes.  This is done in cooperation with JC Penny.  Last year we helped 200 individual children in Daytona Beach.

Scholarship Program.  In partnership with Daytona State College, we have provided over $15,000 in three years to funds scholarships to Daytona Beach area deserving High School students.

Community Christmas Club - We assist both monetarily and physically to work with the Community Christmas Club to deliver close to 1,000 boxes of food to Daytona Beach area families during the holidays.

Meals on Wheels - In conjunction with the Council on Aging we deliver meals on wheels weekly to Daytona Beach Area seniors.

K-Kids and Terrific Kids at South Daytona Elementary School. Here kiwanis helps develop basic leadership and strong moral character by working together in service to school and community with opportunities to learn about organizing projects that help others.  The program encourages students to set and achieve goals, effectively work with others, use good character every day and help young kids become thoughtful, enthusiastic, respectful, responsible, friendly, inquisitive and capable citizens today and in the future.

We have also contributed to many local worthy charitable organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Children's Advocacy Center, Council on Aging of Volusia County/Meals on Wheels, Coalition for the Homeless, Futures, Inc., Mental Health Association of Volusia County, Christ Team, Association of Retarded Citizens, American Red Cross and the Child Care Research Network, just to name a few. 100% of the funds we raise go back into the Daytona Beach Area Community.

How do we do this?

Golf Tournament Fund Raiser - This year will be our 37th Annual Golf Tournament in which we raise over $30,000 for our causes.  We are excited to be involved and supported by Hendrick Honda, Black Crow Media, the Daytona Beach Cubs and many others for such a great cause.

St. Patrick's Day 5K.  Led by the Spruce Creek High School SGA who ran their first ever 5k event, who raised over $3,400 for underprivileged children in Daytona Beach, we plan to make this an annual tradition.
